A Front Porch I Actually Want to Use

With the arrival of spring, I’ve started thinking a bit more about our home’s curb appeal.

When we first moved in, I decorated our front porch with a couple painted chairs. I actually found the chairs in our garage (left over from the last homeowners) and spray painted them yellow. They were okay for a while, until I decided that the yellow wasn’t doing it for me and I repainted them navy blue.

When I painted our front door a pretty clover green, the chairs still worked… but I never really LOVED them, even if they were free.

Porch - before

Adding to the outdoor chair fun, I’ve been dreaming about having a few Adirondack chairs to go around our fire pit. I was stalking a plastic version from Home Depot last year, but before we committed to buying them they were sold out everywhere.

When we stopped by Home Depot last weekend, we scooped up these four mushroom colored plastic Adirondack chairs for $17.98 each. We also picked up a matching table for less than $10 (I don’t see it on the website) to hold our s’mores supplies. Most of the time, it’s just Travis and me around the fire… so I figured I could use the other two chairs on our front porch and then steal them back if we have company over.

The navy blue chairs were demoted to the sunroom and two of our new chairs found a home on our front porch.

Porch - after

The pillows are from Target this season for $15 each. I was worried that they’d be too short and stout, but I think they look great AND they’re pretty darn comfortable.

The little stool/table is the one that I spray painted a couple years ago (originally from Ikea’s clearance section for $3). My sassy sparkle squirrel is from West Elm, the tray is from a Totswap and the candle was rescued from another room. The lantern is also from Ikea, by way of a thrift store.

I feel like the colors work well with our door and the chairs are SO MUCH more comfortable than the old ones. I’m actually loving our front porch now!

Oh, and here’s where the other two chairs and table live:

Anyone want to come over for a bonfire? Have you been doing any outdoor updates now that the weather is finally warming up?

  1. I love it! It all works and you have such a nice view from your porch, so it makes perfect sense to sit out there and just look around 🙂

  2. Love it! Love spring! I just ordered my rocking chair from Wayfair this week. It’s my coffee in the morning, wine in the evening outdoor rocking chair. I’ve been wanting one for so long. Next step is a fire pit. Did you make yours?

    1. We did make our fire pit! We bought the materials at Home Depot last year and you can see the step by step instructions if you follow the link on the words ‘Fire Pit”. Your rocking chair sounds fabulous! =)

  3. Looks like you got a pretty good price for the Adirondack chairs. Nothing really beats a nice hardwood for outdoor furniture, but those are a sound economical choice.
