A Weekend Away in OCMD

Even though the weather was forecasted to be in the low 60’s with clouds and rain, we decided to take advantage of the fact that it was our family’s turn to use the Ocean City house and made the trek down to the beach. Frankly, we could use a change of scenery… and some new restaurant options too.

However, due to a police chase and standoff that shut down the Bay Bridge for hours, we almost gave up and turned back around. Instead, we decided to do a little walk around Annapolis and go out for lunch. Jack requested to go to some of my favorite antique spots that I visit with Lindsey, so we stopped by two fun little shops in Deale before deciding to check the traffic down to the beach again.

Things were looking up, so we gave it another try and I’m SO glad we did!

We ended up getting to Ocean City just around dinner time, so after dropping our stuff at the house we met the crew at a nearby restaurant. And by the crew, I mean my mom and dad, my brother, his wife, and their baby. It was the first time we have been able to see each other in person since getting vaccinated, so being able to sit around a table safely while enjoying drinks and delicious food was FANTASTIC. And for the first time in a YEAR my mom got a hug from me and Jack!

We were only in town for about 22 hours, so the weekend flew by. There was an amazing dinner with some of the best scallops of my life, ice cream, a Mother’s Day breakfast out, another delicious lunch. Basically, we just ate the whole time. Oh, and there was a rousing and hilarious game of charades and a ton of baby snuggles.

All in all, it was a pretty fantastic Mother’s Day weekend!

  1. I am happy for mothers whenever they tell me they have had a good Mother’s Day! I don’t have children myself, (medical reasons) just dogs, but think you all deserve a wonderful day, for all of the work, etc., that you all do!
That sounds like a great getaway. We are putting our toes into planning a possible 3 day trip. Can’t wait. Your getting away, makes me see it can be done! I have my last vaccine, and hopefully, we will be able to fly the coop!
    Thanks, for sharing.
