Dancing Like I Just Don’t Care

For the past month or so I’ve been totally stuck on Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. I probably hear it three times a day and every time I fully lose my shiznet when the song hits the 4:30 mark.

It’s not cute what happens to me when they start with their Na-Na’s… frankly it’s a bit dangerous.* Dangerously AWESOME.

But then I heard my new obsession by cheeky monkey Robin Thicke (featuring T.I and Pharrell) and HOLY HOTDOGS BATMAN!?

When Blurred Lines comes on the radio in my car I shush everyone (including the nice Starbucks barista trying to take my order in the drive thru) and dance my fanny off. Actually, NO, ‘dance my fanny off’ isn’t an accurate description… forget shaking my arms in the air like I just don’t care. I bust out into moves that are most likely horrifying people that catch a glimpse of whatever the heck it is that I’m throwing down. And then picking up. And THROWING DOWN AGAIN.

So, let’s celebrate Friday together and scare people with our not-so-smooth moves:

How about you, what is your latest song obsession?

* Confession: When I inserted the video into this post and then clicked through to make sure it played okay I got so into the Na-Na’s that I kind of fell off my wheely office chair.

  1. OMG OMG OMG 2 of my favorite songs!!!! I also dance like an idiot in my car or wherever I happen to be if they come on:) Although, on a recent road trip my mom told me she thought Can’t hold Us was, “like the ceiling can holders, like the ceiling can holders.” I dont know what the heck a ceiling can holder is but now thats what I hear when I listen to the song. Thanks Mom!! lol

  2. I’ve been listening to a pandora station centered on Glee (don’t judge y’all!) Every time “Smooth Criminal” comes on with that bitching cello I do some crazy chair dancing. Shoulder shimmies!

  3. I have been obsessed with Pharrell forever! I was dancing to this in the car yesterday and Rachel (who is now 3) told me to knock it off, haha!!

  4. Those are the two best songs of this summer, if not the year. I love Macklemore so much that it goes beyond embarrassing — if you really want to fall down the rabbit hole, watch their NPR tiny desk concert. It is UNBELIEVABLE.
