Introducing you to Wallis Designs & a Fabulous Giveaway!

I am so excited about today’s blog post because I get the chance to introduce you to one of my new favorite jewelry designers. Nancy Wallis from Wallis Designs creates amazing handmade jewelry that just speaks to me. Her style is a mix of old and new + sleek and modern + a mix of metals and styles. Basically, it’s exactly what I look for in a piece of jewelry!

Nancy is a self-taught jewelry artist who started her Canada-based business over 8 years ago. By being her own boss, she has been able to earn an income on her own time while still being home with her two daughters as they were growing up. She has two shops: Nancy Wallis Designs and Nancy Wallis Designs on etsy. Both her shops are in $CDN but can be viewed in $US. She also ships worldwide, so this isn’t just for my US friends!

I had the opportunity to connect with Nancy after BlogHer, as she is a member of the Artisan Group (one of BlogHer’s sponsors). One of her necklaces was worn on a recent episode of The Vampire Diaries (you can find it here) and she also had some of her handmade bracelets included in the 2016 Golden Globe Awards gift bags. Keep your eyes peeled for some more of her designs to show up for the upcoming Fall TV season!

Speaking of bags, check out the handmade bag she sends her jewelry in!

If you like it, she has a tutorial for how to make them here.

I was full-on dancing with excitement when Nancy said that she designed a special necklace just for me. The necklace she made me has crystal and onyx charms, along with a sterling silver wing. An oxidized silver ring and vermeil chain complete the look and it is a great piece to wear alone or layered with others.

As soon as I received the package, I immediately started wearing it:

She also sent me one of her most popular designs, the Moonstar Bar necklace. This beautiful necklace has eleven tiny, faceted moonstone beads, which have a milky clear appearance and a pretty subtle sparkle. The delicate chain is Vermeil gold (14 k gold plated over sterling silver) and it has a lobster clasp closure. You can see additional photos of this necklace on her website here.

Isn’t it so pretty?! This one is mine and you’ll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands… but Nancy is super nice and will be giving one away an awesome reader!

  1. They are both beautiful necklaces. I have several favorite pieces, but I never wear them. I have 3 earrings in right now, diamond, ruby and topaz (nov birthstone for my first kid) and i’m too lazy to change them. I have a mother’s ring I also really like, but I rarely wear it for whatever reason. I really should wear more jewelry. Maybe someday I’ll have my act together enough to do it 🙂

  2. I have a necklace with my son’s initial stamped on a hammered disk–so common nowadays but wasn’t back then–that is very special to me

  3. Both of the pieces that you have are beautiful, but my favorite is a petoskey stone pendant that i have. I wear it all the time.

  4. Love these! I’ve been on a 31Bits kick for a while and usually wear one of the many necklaces I’ve bought through them.

  5. I love an extra long necklace with some of my favourite wire wrapped gemstones like labradorite, sunstone and moonstone and a sweet little charm like a star or the word love.

  6. Both necklaces are so pretty! My favorite piece of jewelry is hands down my engagement ring, and always will be, just because the sentiment attached to the moment getting it!

  7. I really love her work, thank you for introducing us to her. I especially love these two pieces shown. I love jewelery with meaning, so my engagement ring, wedding band, kids birthstones ring, and my grandfather’s wedding band. As I get older I’m appreciating the idea of wearing meaningful jewelery, birthstones and initials that have meaning to me and are beautiful.

  8. I love a necklace and bracelet set I puchased in the Kenya airport on a return trip from my husband’s home country, which is nearby. It is unlike anything else I own and the colors are great for Autumn. I’ll be pulling them out more frequently soon.

  9. These necklaces are so gorgeous! I love their simplicity. I’m definitely a necklace girl, except in the summer. When I’m hot I HATE having stuff touching my neck (especially my hair), so right now I’m just rocking some simple earrings. 🙂

  10. This is definitely very beautiful. My favorite jewelry is a pair of long feather earrings. I def prefer earthy jewelry as opposed to diamonds. 🙂 That why the onyx appeals to me.

  11. I love the necklace and call me crazy, but the bag is adorable too! My favorite piece of jewelry is my engagement ring. I just got in and I honestly never thought I would get married so even how excited I am over it is quite surprising!

  12. Wow, I love both of these pieces! I have a really cool custom necklace that has my husband’s initial and our wedding date on it that is probably my fave piece (other than my wedding/engagement rings).

  13. It’s so pretty!!!

My favorite pieces of jewelry are my rings. My wedding rings and then the ring my husband bought me for Christmas one year. And of course, I adore bracelets! 😉

  14. These are beautiful! My favorite are pearl and glass earrings that a friend gave me years ago; I consistently mix up my many many bracelets and necklaces, but 90% of the time wear the earrings.

  15. I love the moonstone necklace. My favorite piece of jewelry is one my husband gave me one year for Christmas and it was a complete surprise. It came from a local shop here in Austin called Eliza Page and was something I never would have picked out on my own but absolutely love.

  16. I love these necklaces! I love jewelry in general, but I feel like necklaces just add more to any outfit. I have a few favorites necklaces and they are all small and dainty, but add a little pop to my outfit.
