I’ve Been Influenced

While I’ve gotten very good at telling myself I don’t need things, or putting things in my online cart and then shutting the window so I don’t buy them… I still stumble sometimes. I recently did a great big unfollow on Instagram because I’m sick of people who try to sell me stuff all the time. However, I have been recently “influenced” and bought a few things. Was it a good choice or a mistake? Well, lets see!

Baggu Masks, 3 for $32 (on the Baggu website here or on Amazon here)

Source: Baggu.com

I follow a few groups on Reddit and I think this purchase was influenced by the Female Style group. Someone asked for the BEST face masks that people have found and the Baggu masks came up again and again. It seems like I’m always on the hunt for the *perfect* face mask that is comfortable, cute, keeps me protected, fits well and doesn’t hurt my ears. I went ahead and ordered a set of three to try them out and… I LOVE THEM.

They have nose wire, as well as a pocket for a filter insert. The best part is the design – there is a little sleeve that flips up to go over your nose and one that flips down to go under your chin. You can talk and the mask stays securely on your face and the patterns are super cute. I’ve been wearing the crap out of them, throwing them in the wash and letting them dry flat. No regrets on this purchase at all!

Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Under Eye Cream, $17 (on Amazon here)

Source: Amazon.com

I somehow came across a Dr. Dray dermatologist video on Facebook and followed it over to YouTube and then fell in the hole of Dr. Dray videos. I think I started with a sunscreen video and then got sucked into recommendations for anti-aging skincare. On one video she talks about how most ‘wrinkle’ creams are crap and don’t do anything. However, she did recommend this particular Neutrogena cream. I haven’t had much luck with creams that go around my eyes because they typically irritate me; however, I decided to give this one a shot.

I’ve been using the cream for about 6 weeks and while I can’t say it’s erased my wrinkles, I do find it hydrating. It doesn’t irritate my eyes at all and I feel like it’s worth giving it a try for a while to see if there are any improvements. FYI – Dr. Dray also recommends wearing sunglasses whenever you’re out and about and sunscreen every day.

Swedish Hasbeen Clogs (No links, not sure if I love them)

The last ‘influenced’ purchase I have to share is my Swedish Hasbeen Clogs. I follow a couple people on Instagram that make the clogs look SO DANG CUTE. Some people wear them with tights all winter long (adorable) and other’s pair them with bare legs and skirts/dresses/jeans. I found an almost new pair on Poshmark for just $60 (they go for around $300 new), so I decided to give them a try.

Let me say… they are NOT comfortable. These are not walk-around-all-day-on-cobblestone-roads kinds of sandals. The straps are leather, but not worked in yet. And the soles are full-on wood. With that being said, they are super cute. I started by wearing them around the house with fuzzy socks to break them in and wore them out to dinner (lots of sitting, not much walking) the other day. I wish they were more comfortable though… so I may try adding some gel inserts to see if that helps. Jury is out on this one for now — luckily I got them secondhand so if they are a mistake, it’s not a $300 mistake!

  1. I’m with you on the IG unfollows. It’s gotten so annoying with some people….it’s all they post anymore. Despite, I WAS influenced earlier this week into buying the Biossance Squalane Dark Spot Vitamin C Serum that has been everywhere. I was kind of immediately regretful, but I have been trying to invest in better skincare lately (the Clinique 3 Step days are long gone! haha) and the VIB sale was going on at Sephora, so at least I got a deal! Cute shoes, btw, but you are right….if they aren’t comfortable…. 🙂

    1. Oh my gosh, I can not even tell you how many times I’ve added a Vitamin C serum to my cart and then ended up not buying it! Let me know if you end up loving the one from Biossance!
