My July Stitch Fix: A Red, White & Blue Fix

Did all my US friends have a wonderful 4th of July weekend?

Each year our neighbor puts on an incredible fireworks display, so we invite over a bunch of friends for a bonfire/picnic kinda thing. With that in mind, I decided to try something new and order a themed Stitch Fix box!

And since I’m sticking with a theme, I totally need to grab one of our flags as a prop…

July Stitch Fix Review - My Red White and Blue Fix - Pocketful of Joules

I asked for the stylists at Stitch Fix to send me over a “red, white and blue” box full of casual clothes with a boho flair. My box came the weekend before the holiday, so I was hoping to find something cute to wear to our party.

Item #1: Skies are Blue Delila Embroidery Neckline Knit Top, $54
Item #2: Dear John Finnegan Cuffed Short, $58

Here’s the first outfit from my Red, White and Blue Fix… a fun red and white patterned top with embroidery detail and a pair of royal blue cuffed shorts. This outfit definitely checks my boxes for a patriotic boho casual look and I can easily see mixing each of the pieces in with other items from my wardrobe. I like that the top is really soft and fits well pretty much everywhere. I’m really loving the color of the shorts and the fact that they are different than the typical jean shorts that I wear.

Unfortunately, the shorts were a little too tight when I buttoned them. I emailed customer service to see if they were available it the next size and unfortunately they were not. So sad!

Item #3: Pixley Triste Swing Skirt, $58

I wouldn’t have thought of putting these two items together, but my stylist suggested pairing them for a party look. I really like the way the top looks tucked in, but maybe not into this particular skirt. In theory it’s my kind of skirt, because I’m totally a swing skirt kind of girl. However, I don’t really feel like its casual enough for an outdoor picnic and it’s a bit TOO casual for me to wear to my office. Also, it is totally unlined which makes it feel much cheaper than the price tag.

Item #2: Dear John Finnegan Cuffed Short, $58
Item #4: Papermoon Sarani Ribbon Detail Knit Top, $44

I realized recently that I don’t really have many casual tank tops. I think it might have been on a random day where I was sweating to death and decided that short sleeves would probably smother me and make me pass out. This blue and white stripped version fits my Red, White and Blue criteria and looks awfully cute with the bright blue shorts. The only thing I don’t like is that the arm holes are quite large and you can totally see my bra on the sides.

Item #5: Dolce Vita Lettie Suede Cross Strap Wedge, $120
I wore these shoes with all of the outfits that my Stitch Fix stylist sent over. They are really well made with real leather, so if you are on the hunt for something similar they may be what you are looking for. However, they are a bit pricey and I already own a few similar pairs of sandals, so I don’t really need them.

My Thoughts
I feel like the stylist did a good job of understanding the style of clothing that I wanted. I like the way that all of the items mix and match together for some really cute patriotic looks. Out of everything in this Fix, the only item I really wanted to purchase was the shorts. Unfortunately, since they were a bit too snug to be comfortable the whole Fix went back.
