My Style: March 2022

This month my style post is a one-two-punch of what I wore to work in March and also working through some clothes in my ‘to be purged’ pile.

At the end of February, I went though my closet and grabbed out items that I hadn’t worn in a while. I had to either wear each item to work for a day and then make a decision to keep or purge it from my closet. OR, if I tried styling the item and couldn’t get it to work… it had to go directly into the purge pile without passing go or receiving $200.

Fun Fact: all 11 items were purchased secondhand at a thrift store, consignment shop or Poshmark over the years. Here are the items on the chopping block and I actually added one more mid-month for a total of 12 items:

Out of the 12 items, I ended up keeping just 3 of them:

I would try on each item and include it as part of my outfit. Sometimes I would immediately take it off because it felt weird or pulled in odd ways, or I just didn’t like it. Other times, I’d make it almost out of the house before deciding to change at the last minute.

Here’s one quick-change:

I started out with the beige-gray tank top, but the chiffon layer kept pulling and untucking from my skirt under my sweater. So, I switched it out with a black blouse before leaving the house. Looking at the photos, the v-neck is much more flattering on me than the high neck of purged top.

For this outfit, I thought I was looking cute in my long sweater… until I saw the photo my kid snapped of me. It was giving major housecoat vibes. So, I immediately threw it off and replaced it with a shorter cardigan while humming ‘another one bites the dust.’ It was added to my Poshmark closet before I even finished my coffee.

And also, I cheated… I didn’t wear the green faux wrap dress. It’s a little dressier than my typical workday, but it is flattering enough that it earned a pass back into my closet for when I felt like kicking it up a notch for a big meeting.

Here are all my work looks for the month. With this layout, if you want to see any look closer just click on it and the photo will blow up larger for you:

I really liked a lot of my outfits this month, including the two I made with my ‘keep or purge’ items. However, my total favorite outfit of the month was my new green nap dress and denim top. I just love the romantic, tiered skirt and the cinched in waist that you get from knotting the top over it. I will be re-visiting this dress a bunch once the weather warms up for both work and non-work.

I’m really glad that I did a bit of a purge this month to clear some space in my closet. I added 5 items to my Poshmark closet, put 4 in the donation pile and ended up keeping just 3. Maybe I should grab another pile for April?

  1. You look great in all of them except the outfit with the beige sweater with white design on front. I have two of the housecoat vibe dusters, and never thought of it having that vibe, until now! Good point.
    Have a good day.
Ps I use paragraphs but they do not show up, everything showing up in one. Makes me look a little crazy. Just wanted to point this out.
