Reviewing Causebox: The Fall 2019 Box Reveal

I feel like I’ve been looking forward to this box for ages and I’m so happy it’s finally here!

About Causebox:
Every season, members receive a limited edition curation of products from the leading socially conscious brands. Some of them are designed exclusively for Causebox. Each box is designed and filled with love. From the original artwork on the outside of the box, to the lovingly handmade products that fill it up, there is love in every detail. The cost is $49.95 per quarter if you subscribe annually, or $54.95 per quarter if you subscribe by the quarter. I don’t have a referral code to give you, but if you click on their website you might see a pop-up with a promo code on it: www.causebox.com

Let’s check out what I received in the Fall 2019 box:

Known Supply Weekend Duffel, $108 value

Source: Causebox.com

An oversized duffle for everything from weekends away to trips to the gym. Handmade by artisans in Jaipur, India.

Out of all the items in this box, this was the one I was most excited about. Typically when packing I’ll pack either a backpack or a small suitcase, but this duffle is perfectly in the middle. I picked the gray/white stripes with the natural colored straps and I love the pretty gold-ish metal accents on everything. I saw some people complaining on the Causebox Instagram page that this bag was smaller than pictured… but once you stuff it full of stuff I think it’s exactly the size as represented. I used this for last weekend’s girl trip to Lindsey’s house and it was the perfect size!

Malin + Goetz Recovery Treatment Oil, $82 value

A multitasking treatment oil that provides hydration and helps skin feel softer, smoother, and brighter. Naturally composed of nine antioxidant rich oils.

With fall and winter coming, I’m happy to add this antioxidant oil to my stash. I like being able to sample these items long term before committing to the high price, so this is perfect for me.

La Beaute Soi 10-Piece Makeup Brush Collection, $24 value

A 10-piece set of makeup brushes for every imaginable use and look. Every brush is made with vegan, cruelty-free bristles, and packaged in a thoughtfully designed vegan leather clutch.

First off, you all know how I feel about “vegan leather”… can we just call it what it is?! PLASTIC. I can see how this makeup brush set might be useful to many people, but I’m really not that involved with putting makeup on. In fact, I typically only use one brush… maybe two if I’m feeling fancy. I’ll either gift this one or donate it.

Nashelle Heather Drop Lariat necklace, $38 value

A custom-for-Causebox take on the classic Y silhouette. For every product sold, Nashelle donates 10 meals to those in need.

For this necklace, I was able to choose between silver and gold and I went with the gold one. I like the weight of this necklace and both the design and the chain are substantial. I’ve tried adding it to a couple outfits, but it’s really just not my style — to me it looks like a dog choke collar. I think this one will probably be added to my Poshmark closet.

La Lueur White Cactus Coconut Wax Candle, $35 value

A fresh take on autumn, this candle was developed from sustainably sourced ingredients including a proprietary coconut wax blend. Every La Lueur candle is hand-poured in the USA and packaged in a gorgeous reusable glass vessel.

I actually really like the scent of this candle and the glass vessel is really pretty, so this one is a keeper!

Glass Ladder & Co Terrazzo Travel Wallet, $18 value

For this choice I was able to pick between this travel wallet and a felt letter board. The letter board looked super cheap, so I went with this travel wallet even though it is once again vegan leather. Sigh. It is fine for storing a passport and stuff while traveling and I will get some use out of it, but it’s not very exciting.

Bonus: $25 Known Supply Online Store Credit

There was also a postcard for a special promo code to get $25 store credit at the Known Supply online store. I did a quick search of the website and it looks like they have some cotton t-shirts (graphic and plain) for $34 – 54, so I may use this gift card towards something.

Overall Thoughts
I really like the Fall Causebox! The duffel bag is really well made AND adorable, the candle smells good, and the face oil has promise. While the necklace seems well made, it’s not really my style so I’ll list it for sale so someone else can enjoy it. I’m not enthused about the two vegan leather/PLASTIC items in the bag though and wish they had some non-plastic choices.

What is your favorite item from the Fall Causebox? Do you like Vegan Leather??

  1. I am not familiar with vegan leather. My favorite is the duffle bag! I think that could be put under the seat ahead of you on a plane. It would carry a lot of clothing. I have a duffle bag about that size. I guess I should use it. The candle sounds nice, and the face oil. It looks like they tried to get together a good variety of things. They should’ve tried a more simple necklace, more people might like it. A nice t shirt with their cause’s name, would’ve been good.
I hope you enjoy your new treasures!
