VOTY News: I’m a Voices of the Year Honoree!

I received some amazing news last week and I’ve been dying to share it with you all. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I can finally tell you that I have been selected as a Voices of the Year Honoree!

If you are not familiar with the Voices of the Year awards – also called the VOTY’s – it’s basically like the blogger version of the Emmy’s or Tony’s.2016 VOTY Honoree

Submissions go through a juried program with a minimum of three rounds of judging. Out of the thousands of submissions for the 2016 VOTY awards, fewer than 5% of them made it through to become an Honoree. The 2016 Voices of the Year Honorees will be celebrated at this year’s BlogHer conference in Los Angeles with a special ceremony and reception.

My piece of writing that won is really special to me, because it is about some of the simple pleasures of being a mom. You can read it here: I Want You.

You can see the full list of 2016 Voices of the Year Honorees here: Announcing the 2016 VOTY Nominees. Be sure to set aside some time to visit, because I am in very good company of some fantastic pieces of writing.

It’s kind of difficult for me to brag on myself, because it seems like we are all so trained to minimize our accomplishments. Either for fear of putting our success out there, hoping that we don’t make someone else feel bad, or just because we don’t feel like we are ‘good enough’ to be able to celebrate. I even thought twice about posting this on my blog before I had to give myself an imaginary smack to the head because this is AWESOME news and something that I feel very proud to share.

So yeah, I’m kind of a big deal. And I’m overwhelmed and absolutely, totally honored. Now, bring on the champagne!

Like what you see? Share me with your friends!

  1. Congratulations! I haven’t been reading your blog too long, but I love everything that I’ve read so far, and think your winning is very deserved.
