My Fall Style Inspiration

Now that I’ve packed away most of my summary dresses, I’m feeling super inspired for fall style! Over the years, my style stays pretty consistent, but this year I’m wanting to stretch my wings a little bit and mix things up.

Some things that are inspiring me right now:

Moto jackets

I have a few moto jackets in my closet and I’m inspired to start mixing them in more with my day-to-day outfits. While it’s easy for me to throw one on as a jacket to keep me warm on a chilly day, this year I want to try using them as a topper for some of my work outfits. I love the look of a moto jacket with a dress or blouse and skirt. Also, my office is usually pretty chilly, so I can use the extra warmth!

The Moto Jackets currently in my closet:

Button Up Shirts

My typical combo is a dress + a cardigan or a shirt and skirt + a cardigan. I’m bored. So lately, I’ve started experimenting with knotting a blouse over a dress or skirt and I’m really enjoying the look.

Here are a couple recent examples:

Button up shirts are fabulous to thrift or buy secondhand through online resources like Poshmark. Over the past few months, I’ve accumulated a few:

If you are planning to knot the bottom, I’ve found that going up a size or two helps give you the extra fabric while also allowing you to button it if you’d like.

Cuffed Straight Leg Jeans

I was having a bit of a jeans conundrum lately when I was picking through my closet. I have a couple pairs of skinny jeans and a couple pairs of distressed boyfriend jeans. But when it comes to ‘work appropriate’ jeans, I didn’t really have many/any options.

In my imagination I wanted something with a super straight leg and a cuff at the bottom, so it would look good with boots AND sneakers AND flats. I ordered a couple pairs online (still waiting for them to arrive) and also took a trip to Nordstrom Rack to try a TON of pairs on… and I think I found exactly what I was looking for. I ended up buying two pairs: Kut from the Kloth Katy Boyfriend jeans and Joe’s Mid Rise Crop Jeans.

And here are the Katy jeans on me:

And yes, I totally bought that blouse too. It made my comfy/boho self happy!

I’m really looking forward to mixing and matching some of these new items into my wardrobe this fall. I feel like I’ve been stuck in a bit of a rut style-wise lately – which is easy to do when there is a global pandemic that is keeping many of us at home – so I’m hoping to shake off some dust and start feeling cute again!

    1. Thank you so much! I grabbed it off the sale rack when I was shopping for jeans. It looks like they have it online though in three colors (black, blush and gray) and it’s on sale for just $20! https://shopstyle.it/l/bx39U I feel like it looks so much better in person than on their stock photos though!
