Being Beach Bums in Ocean City, Maryland

Remember how I mentioned last week that I was away at the beach with my toes in the sand? Well, I’m back now and trying to get used to brushing my hair on a regular basis and dressing in something other than a swimsuit and shorts.

Also, my truck is still totally covered in sand, so I should probably do something about that.

The way it worked out with our August beach week is that Jack and I were down in Ocean City for an entire week and throughout the time were joined by Travis (for the weekend), my sister Katie and her boyfriend, Craig (who Jack is obsessed with and has renamed Tag, like a yuppy 80’s villain in a pink polo) and my parents.

Through a process of trial and error over the past few years, I’ve found that it works best with Jack to go out to the beach nice and early – like around 10:30am – and then come back to the house around 2:00pm for showers and naps.

Well, Jack’s nap… I curled up on a chair and devoured WindFlower (recommended by Katie). This kept the meltdowns at an all-time low and also ensured that neither of us ended up with weird sunburn.

While I’m still getting used to using quick wifi again (so good, SO SO GOOD) and checking Facebook on my laptop rather than my teeny iPhone screen, let’s look at some pretty pictures!

And one last one from our ride home. It’s Ocean City tradition that we have to stop at Sonic for some tots and Jack is TOTALLY enjoying them:

Did you go anywhere fun for a vacation this summer? Do you have a traditional stop on your way, like our Sonic trips?

{PS: I added an update to yesterday’s DietBet post. Teri from Snarkfest had already set up a DietBet that starts on Monday… so I decided to join her. Here’s the link if you want to join us: Teri’s DietBet.}

  1. We go to Tybee Island every year. First stop is always The Crab Shack where we can feed alligators and devour seafood. Having to wait until October this year… not sure I will make it!
