Reviewing Graze: A Snack Variety Pack

Have you guys heard of Graze?

Graze Box review

One of my girlfriends has been getting Graze boxes for a while now and loves them. She recently got a special deal to give a friend a free box (and earn one as well), so she suggested that I try them out with no commitment.

I figured I might as well give them a try since it was free. And I like snacks, so it was kind of a win-win situation.

I started by picking the nibble box (they also have a calorie counter box and a big box) which includes four portion controlled snacks per delivery. I then filled out the surveys so that they could learn what foods I like and dislike. I tend to be kind of a ‘normal’ eater, so I made sure to put “trash” for foods that looked WAY too healthy…like an oatmeal and raisin spelt cookie with berry compote and a rustic rolled oat flapjack with mixed seeds and dried fruits. Blegh.

I’m sure there are lots of people that like that kind of stuff, but I’m not one of them!

For the snacks that I thought I would enjoy, I picked either “try” or “love” so that they would know what kinds of flavors I like.

Here’s what I got in my first box:

Graze Box 1

Wholegrain Banana Caramel Dippers
Triple Berry Smoothie
Texan Corn Salsa
Mississippi BBQ Pistachios

Each snack was individually packaged, so you could throw one in as you are packing your lunch bag for the day. Or you could just sit the entire box next to your laptop and try them all at the same time for “review” purposes. Out of this box I would have to say that the Texan Corn Salsa and the Mississippi BBQ Pistachios were my favorites. They both had really good flavors and the sizes of the portions were just right for snacking. I didn’t really enjoy either of the other two snacks at all. I didn’t like the flavor or the consistency of the Banana Caramel Dippers, which is funny because I thought I would love them. As for the triple berry smoothie, I just wasn’t very impressed at all.

I decided to give the Graze box another chance though, so I adjusted my snack favorites settings and allowed another box to come.

Graze Box 2

Tropical Daiquiri
Brownie Flapjack
Chocolate Pecan Pie
Salsa Corn Chips

Once again, my box came with nicely sized snacks. Out of this box, my favorite was the Tropical Daiquiri dried fruits and that one disappeared pretty quickly. The brownie flapjacks were my second favorite – they tasted a bit on the “too healthy” side for me, but the chunks of chocolate brownie were really nice. As much as I usually love salsa and chips, I did not like the ones in the box. The chips were just too peppery and the salsa tasted too sweet. As for the Chocolate Pecan Pie mix, I liked the little ‘chocolate’ bites but pecans are not one of my favorites and there were a ton of them. If you are a pecan person, you would have loved it!

Is it worth it?
I think the concept of the Graze box is really great, especially if you have the box delivered to your workplace once a week. Imagine not having to stare at the vending machine and then finally pay $3 for a bag of chips you didn’t really want in the first place?! If I were in an office five days a week again, I would totally do this. I think the value of the box — $6.49 for four different snacks – is pretty good. It’s nice to try out different types of snacks to broaden your horizon of what you like to eat.

For me, I don’t know if this is the best fit because I didn’t end up loving a lot of the snacks that I tried. For someone trying to eat healthy, I think the Calorie Counter box sounds like an AWESOME idea. Also, if you tend to like lots of grains and seeds and dried fruit, you’ll probably love everything you receive.
