April Fool’s Day

I don’t do April Fool’s Day.

I find most pranks to be just mean. I don’t like feeling like someone is trying to trick me. And I don’t like fake announcements. Especially pregnancy announcements.

I like to think that people are telling me the truth and not trying to get one over on me… so I feel on edge the entire day.

I don’t think it’s nice to make someone the butt of your jokes.

I don’t like using gullible as an insult.

I know, this does tend to be somewhat of an unpopular opinion. But I really just feel like most people use April Fool’s Day as an excuse to be mean. Being a “fool” is not an excuse for being an asshole.

Now, with that being said, I have enjoyed some of the corporate April Fool’s jokes that have come out over the years. For example, Taco Bell buying the Liberty Bell was a fun one (1996). American Eagle launching their doggy line, American Beagle was adorable (2014). Google usually comes up with something funny and witty.

Since today tends to be a bit of a grumpy day for me, I’d love to know if you’ve seen or experienced any April Fool’s jokes that were actually funny, cute and NOT mean? Share in the comments!

  1. My husband and I, for years, had this piece of rubber that was supposed to look like barf. Maybe in the early years it did. I remember being upset seeing it, but, as it got older, it looked less and less like it, and, that was actually funnier than it had been when it looked real. I don’t know if I can find it anymore, but I might try. That is about the only trick we have pulled on each other.

The whole holiday?is sort of stupid, we have always hated those punked shows, they are just mean. Well, have a good April 1st!
