Date Night Fun: Queen & Adam Lambert

My husband and I very rarely have a date night… and this week we had TWO! Over the weekend, we took advantage of a ‘parent’s night out’ at Jack’s taekwondo place and dropped him off for a couple hours. In the parking lot, I did a little day-to-night-Barbie action by throwing on my leather jacket, grabbing my motorcycle helmet off the passenger seat of my SUV and hopping on my husband’s motorcycle for a little ride and dinner date.

Then, on Wednesday night, we dropped Jack at my parent’s house for a few hours and zipped up the road to go and see Queen & Adam Lambert perform at CFG Bank Arena!

I had the pleasure of seeing Queen & Adam Lambert when they started their Rhapsody Tour back in 2019. My friend Lindsey’s parents had extra tickets, so we joined them and had THE BEST time. And the whole time I was thinking how much my husband would have loved being there too. Well, when tickets went on sale for 2023 dates, I immediately purchased them for the very first night they were back in North America!

The concert was lots of fun and ohmygosh is Adam Lambert’s voice amazing!

And this:

So yeah, we had QUITE the fun Wednesday night!

46

Each year on my birthday, I post an annual birthday photo… and today I’m celebrating 46.

I think this year, more than ever, I’m feeling more comfortable in my skin. That’s the funny thing about aging – we are supposed to try and ignore it as long as possible and stay a fresh-faced 25-year-old. However, to be honest, my mid-40’s has been awesome.

I feel confident in myself. I know my worth in both business and friendships. I value those people around me who ‘fill my cup’ and prioritize them.

Sure, I love my fancy lotions and serums, but I’m also okay with the laugh lines. I enjoy my daily (and sometimes twice daily) outdoor walks for not only exercise, but the chance to just chat with my kid on the way to the bus stop and my husband after a day of work.

I have a closet of clothing that fits my body, and makes me feel comfortable and fun and sparkly.

So, for my 46th birthday, if I were to make a wish while blowing out a candle, I’d wish for happiness and health. And some extra money for our savings accounts.

If you feel like doing a little clicking, here are my previous birthday posts: 45, 44, 43, 42, 41, 40, 39, 38, 37, and 36.

My Style: August 2023

Looking back on August, it was a peak summer month over here. We went to the beach. It was hot and sticky. And when I went into the office it was over air conditioned. To be honest, September weather in Maryland is pretty similar to August weather, but we have *hopes* of cooler weather coming, so there’s that.

Let’s look at August:

Work Outfits

Left: I hadn’t worn my pretty embroidered Anthropologie skirt this summer, so I wanted to make sure to give it a spin before fall. I paired it with my moss green notPERFECT LINEN tank top (first time I wore it out of the house), a cardigan to protect against the freezing work AC, and a pair of comfy sandals.

Right: I had just thrifted this navy blue embriodered Talbots top and washed it, so I figured I’d wear it right away! I kept it pretty simple with the top, my mustard colored Marseille skirt and some wedge Birkenstocks. It’s a little too simple though — I think next time I’ll add a fun necklace or earrings to this look.

Casual Outfits

Lots more linen for my casual outfits. The beach outfit is just a simple tank top with the same skirt as the above work look. The top right outfit is a ‘me dyed’ linen top, paired with my moss green Marseille skirt — it matches the tank in my work outfit for a fun ‘dress’ like look when worn together. I love items that I can dress up for work or feel super comfortable just hanging around in. There is no need to be too precious with your clothes. They’re clothes and meant to be worn!

The black outfit is a pretty fabulous linen tiered dress from Anthropologie with a super awkward top — so I always tie a shirt on top to hide it. And I love, love, love the thrifted Rag & Bone linen top/sweater thing on the bottom right outfit so much and I really need to wear it a ton more. I paired it with a gray 1950’s City Skirt (from NPL) and Birkenstocks for ‘Back to School’ night at the middle school.

Looking ahead to September, I’ll probably pull out my super summery clothes and give them a last wear (also talked about here Change of Seasons Clothing Tip). Then, before we know it fall weather, bonfire nights, and bootie season will be upon us!
