My NotPERFECT LINEN Custom Order

I mentioned that I was planning to do a NotPERFECT LINEN order directly from the shop a couple months ago, so I wanted to give you all an update. I had purchased other NPL items, but they were secondhand through Poshmark and the Facebook BST group. With their discontinuing of the 15% off promo code, I decided to pull the trigger and make my order.

What I chose:

I decided that I wanted both these items in Moss Green, so that I could wear them together like a dress, or separately to make lots of other outfits. I figured, this combo would give me the most bang for my buck.

Sizing was easy for the skirt, as I had purchased a Marseille in a M/L secondhand and it fit perfectly. I’ve also purchased a size Large in a Marseille skirt since then (it was a secondhand bargain, so I figured I could always try to shrink it if needed) and that fits great too. So, it seems that there is some leeway with this style.

For the tank though, I really wanted a perfect fit. Instead of just choosing a size and crossing my fingers, I sent them my measurements – bust, waist and hips. They used that information and made the tank to my specifications (for no extra fee).

NPL Order Unboxing

If you prefer this in video form, I posted a quickie unboxing on my PocketfulofJoules Instagram account. You can find it saved under “NPL Unboxing”

If you’re more of a photo person, let’s take a look:

PORTO-2 Top + MARSEILLE Skirt:

I LOVE this set so much. The top fits my curves wonderfully and it looks adorable tucked into the matching skirt. I’ll wear these together for non-work spring and summer events. And then for work, I’ll add a cardigan for tattoo coverage. Love, love, love the set. Especially because it looks like a dress, but has so many more mix and matching possibilities.

PORTO-2 Top + SION Skirt

I had previously purchased this SION skirt secondhand in a discontinued teal color. While I do have a black linen skirt, I thought it would be more fun to pair the moss green with the teal. This is a cute look that I’d top with a cardigan for work or just wear out and about in non-work life.

PORTO-2 Top + Denim Shorts

You can see the full shape of the PORTO-2 in this outfit, since it’s untucked. They did a great job of cutting the fabric to fit my bust, my waist and my hips comfortably. This is fully untucked, but it also looks nice with a little half-tuck action. While I’m not typically a shorts person, I do occasionally wear this pair of denim shorts… so this is certainly an outfit I’ll be wearing this summer.

MARSEILLE Skirt and T-Shirt

This is my typical weekend look – a t-shirt with a cute skirt and I love this fun combo. The moss green of this skirt is surprisingly versatile and I can’t wait to wear it a bunch of times this spring, fall and summer.

I am THRILLED about my first order from NotPERFECT LINEN. I’ve been really lucky to find some wonderful items secondhand, but when it comes to tops, I love the opportunity to purchase something that fits my body exactly.

So far, I’ve tried the 1950’s skirt, the SION skirt and the Marseille skirt — the Marseille skirt is my absolute favorite. They all are made out of beautiful linen and have a nice fitted waist and swingy body (and pockets), but the snaps on the Marseille give it a little extra sparkle which I love.

WAMA Underwear Review: Hemp Bras & Undies

A very nice lady from WAMA Underwear reached out to me recently asking if I’d like to review their undies. Typically, when I am asked to do a product review, I take a look at the website and determine if there is anything I’d actually want for my real life. Not just to review and move on. And typically, my answer is no. So, I don’t end up doing many reviews. However, in the case of WAMA Underwear, I clicked through and immediately saw a few products I was interested in. So, this review is born!

Full disclosure: I received a $100 gift card to WAMA Underwear to order whatever I wanted and was asked to review the products. All thoughts are my own. I am purposely not a part of their Affiliate program, so if you do decide to buy anything based on my review there is no benefit in it for me. I feel like that is the fairest way to do this type of unsolicited review.

So, why WAMA and why hemp? Hemp fabric has many benefits like being naturally anti-bacterial with anti-odor properties, super soft and breathable. Hemp is also organic, eco-friendly and the perfect fabric for your underwear. WAMA started from scratch to create their unique hemp fabric and offers a variety of underwear options for men and women. I decided to order three items to review:

Racerback Bralette

The Racerback Bralette comes in sizes XS to 4XL and according to their size chart, an XL was the best size for me. Their size chart was 100% right, because the XL fit wonderfully with a nice and snug band and comfortable hemp fabric. I ordered all three items in purple and I LOVE the purple color. It’s so vibrant and pretty, especially when the bra strap peeks out the side of a wider neckline.

However, for ladies in the larger bust club, know that this bra offers very little support. It is made out of the exact same material as the panties, to give you an idea of the fabric and thickness. For me, it’s a perfect around-the-house bra to be nice and comfy over the weekend. I probably wouldn’t wear this one out and about, but for someone smaller chested who doesn’t need much support this could be perfect.

Not to be too TMI, but this bra would have been perfect for me when I was pregnant and was uncomfortable braless (even when sleeping). This would have totally been my pregnancy sleeping bra – I just wish I had it 11 years ago!

Bikini Underwear

I also ordered the bikini underwear in purple, to match the bra. I’m typically more of a ‘hipster’ panty girl, but at the time that I ordered they didn’t have the hipster in purple. Also, I’m normally a large in panties, but their chart (and the nice WAMA lady) told me to go up one size in the panties. So, I ordered a size XL, which ended up fitting great.

The fabric is super soft and the contrasting waistband is really cute and flattering. The butt is a little too ‘cheeky’ for me, as I prefer more of a full-coverage fit, but these are really, really cute.

Boy Shorts Underwear

Sometimes I just want to have a pair of super cute, full coverage underwear and these boy shorts are SO DARN CUTE! I’ve actually gone online shopping a few times looking for ‘girl boxers’ but hadn’t committed to a pair. So, I was thrilled to try these out. Once again, I ordered purple, so they make the most adorable matching set with the racerback bralette.

I really, really didn’t want any uncomfortable thigh squish to happen with these AND I wasn’t sure about shrinkage, so I sized up to a 2XL. After wearing them, washing them and wearing them again, I could have just done an XL in size.

Overall Thoughts

This has to be said: hemp panties are expensive. The $24 price of a pair of bikini panties is much higher than I would typically pay for underpants. However, for people who want to switch to natural fibers for the anti-bacterial, anti-order and eco-friendly benefits, I found that these three items from WAMA were well made, very soft, and wash and wear quite well.

I also like the fact that WAMA offers a “First Pair Guarantee” to help you find your right size: If for any reason you are not happy with your first pair of underwear, they will send you a new size, color or issue you a refund. No questions asked & no returns needed. You can find out more on their FAQ page.

Top 5 Favorites for an Active Vacation (or Life)

I consider myself a master-level packer when it comes to vacation packing. I consider it a ‘win’ if I wear everything in my suitcase, so I spend time fully planning out everything I think I might need or wear when I have a trip coming up. Our latest Spring Break adventure was no exception and after our week of hiking, e-biking and lounging, I came away with 5 workhorses from my trip.

Favorite #1: REI Vented Trailsmith Hat (find it on the REI website here)

I really wanted a hat to wear while hiking and exploring that would protect me from the sun. This hat from REI is durable, breathable and has UPF 50+ sun protection. Not only is this important on our active vacations, but I’m also planning to use this all spring and summer when I’m out and about.

I tried on a bunch of hats and this one was my absolute favorite. I like that it has vents at the top and an adjustable chin strap for windy weather. I typically overheat in baseball caps, so it was a pleasant surprise that this one was so well ventilated. I also really like the Walrus Brown color, which to me looks like a clay orange.

Favorite #2:  Allbirds Women’s Wool Dasher Mizzles (find them here on the Allbirds website)

I purchased these sneakers a couple years ago and they are my ‘go to’ sneaker for hiking. They are super comfortable and the merino wool is super breathable. One of the main reasons I brought them on our hiking trip is that they are machine-washable, so when they get covered in dirt or that red clay from Arizona, I just throw them in the washing machine afterwards.

A hidden benefit that I didn’t even realize – the sock-like top of the shoe keeps sand out! Both Travis and Jack had to shake out their shoes when we hiked over a sandy wash, and I was good to go.

Favorite #3: Athleta Salutation Stash 7/8 Leggings (find them here on the Athleta website)

I brought a few pairs of leggings on our trip, including a pair of Salutation Stash 7/8’s and a pair of Salutation Stash capris. Yes, Athleta leggings are pricey ($109 for full length), but they are my absolute favorite because they hold up perfectly over repeated wearings, washings, shoving things in the pockets, and even sliding my butt over rocks on a hike. They are thick enough to smooth any lumps and bumps, but thin enough that I don’t overheat.

After a full day, I just throw them in the washing machine on cold and then hang them to dry. By the next day, they’re back on my body and looking as good as new.

Favorite #4: Athleta Sunrise V-Neck Sweatshirt (find it here on the Athleta website)

I actually own two of these lightweight sweatshirts – one in green and one in navy. I bought the first one on sale a year or two ago, so when I saw the green on clearance a few months ago I scooped it up. This is the PERFECT layer to add over pretty much anything – an exercise bra, a tank top, or a full t-shirt.

It is super lightweight and soft and has extra long sleeves with thumb-holes. It works great for a hike, with a pair of jeans for dinner, or tied around your waist when you get a little warm. I’m typically a true-to-size large, and I like this in a XL for a little extra comfy feeling.

Favorite #5: Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 (find it here on Amazon)

This is a year-round product, but definitely one you should not forget if you are out and about in the sun. I’ve been using Supergoop SPF since early 2022 and it is my absolute favorite because it goes on totally invisible with not even a hint of greasiness or white cast. It has no scent, doesn’t irritate my contact lenses and works great under makeup too. It is a 100% winner in my book and one tube lasts a surprising amount of time before you need to re-order.
