March Thrift Haul

Earlier this week, I shared what has been leaving my house through Poshmark and Facebook group sales. Well, here are two things that came into my house… Yes, just two items again this month. And honestly, one of them may not be staying for very long.

Adidas Track Jacket, $12.99 (retails for $80)

I picked up this track jacket at the thrift store for $13 and I think it’s super cute. I’ve seen and liked the Adidas track jackets with bright flowers and the black stripes up the arms, so this one kind of had the same high/low feel with the fun black and white pattern. It has buttons to close it, nice deep pockets, and even a split hem in the back for a little fun.

The ONLY problem is… it is unlined and I have sensitive skin. So, when I wear it over a t-shirt the inside of the sleeves are kind of itchy with the seams pressing against my skin. I need to either get used to it so that it doesn’t bother me anymore or only throw it on if I’m wearing a long sleeve top. It does look super cute with a pair of leggings for kid drop off/pick up, so I’m going to see if I can make it work!

Johnny Was Cedella Blouse, $39.50 (retails for $205)

You guys, I LOVE Johnny Was. I once went into an actual Johnny Was store and basically just looked around with my mouth open and big old hearts exploding out of my eyes. The problem is, that the brand is so freaking expensive. Even on Poshmark, it’s hard to find a blouse for less than $100. So, I admire it from afar.

But then when I was out at a consignment shop with a friend I found this embroidered top and immediately knew the brand. It’s a size medium, so I wasn’t sure if it would fit my bust, but I was thrilled that it fits! And it’s so freaking cute. I even wore it to work last week with a skirt and cardigan.

It will also look adorable paired with a pair of jean shorts this summer, so I’m so happy I was able to scoop this up for $40!

February Thrift Haul

After last month’s one item thrift ‘haul’, this month’s thrifted purchases feel downright decadent! Let’s check out this month’s finds:

Eileen Fisher wool sweater, $7.99

I gave you a sneak peek of this sweater in my Sweater Shaver post earlier this month. It is an absolutely fabulous 100% Extra Fine Merino Wool sweater that retails for $228. When I got it home, I washed it on cold and laid it flat to dry. Then, I used my sweater shaver to get rid of any of the little annoying pills and it now looks as good as new!

Marc New York Linen Skirt, $9.49

This skirt was new with the $79 retail tags still attached. Even though it was new, I brought it home and washed it on cold and let it hang dry to get rid of that thrift store smell.

I like the fit of this skirt and the cute pockets, but I’m not sure if I’m fully loving the color. I’ll try it with my summer wardrobe in a few months when it warms up and see if it works. Otherwise, I may dye it a bit darker or a different shade of the current orangy/yellow-ish/brown.

Vintage Brown Linen Skirt, $7.79

Another linen skirt to add to my collection. This one seems a bit less casual, so it will be great for work. It’s a pretty classic fit and has just the right about of swish in the skirt.

The runched waist part is actually supposed to be in the back, but I kind of like it better in the front for visual interest:

Talbots Star Blouse, $9.99

I love the lightweight cotton of this Talbots skirt and the teeny tiny little stars. I was shocked that this was labeled as a 2x, because it basically fits like an oversized large or regular XL. However, I remember someone saying Talbots clothing is notoriously small, so that may be the issue.

Any which way, it fits a little blousy and will be adorable tucked into skirts for work. With that being said, I bought this at Goodwill (typically I only go to 2nd Avenue) and thought it was priced kind of high for a shirt.

I wore it to work on Monday, with a black linen skirt, tights and booties:

January Thrift Haul

For the first thrift haul of 2023, the term “haul” may be a little overstated. However, I am certainly sticking to my goal to be much pickier about what comes into the house!

This month I thrifted just 1 item. Let’s take a look:

Blue Velvet Chaps midi skirt, $4.79

I actually didn’t even bother trying this on when I was shopping, figuring that if I made a $5 mistake I’d just re-donate it. Thankfully, it fits well because it is so incredibly soft and I love the shade of blue. Believe me when I say that NOBODY at my work pays any attention to my outfits – but the day I wore this skirt I received multiple compliments. MULTIPLE.

For work this month, I paired the blue velvet skirt with a light-wash denim shirt, dark purple tank top and sparkly blue flats.

I feel like this type of skirt is super versatile and can be paired with a tank and cardigan, topped with a long sleeve blouse, or made even more casual with a t-shirt and denim jacket. For less than my typical Starbucks order, I consider it a steal!
