Feeling Like a Rockstar: My Pinup Photo Shoot

17 Sep

Years and years ago, I remember thinking that it would be fun to do a pinup photo shoot.

But I would never do it. I mean, I’m not skinny enough. I basically only have two poses. And I’m dreadful at trying to ‘be sexy’ in photos… instead I look mad. Or constipated. Or just terribly unphotogenic and weird.

The thought stuck with me though. And a couple years passed.

And I still had plenty of excuses: I need to lose {magical number} pounds. I have weird tan lines. My tattoo wasn’t finished. I’ll probably look stupid. The photos will call attention to my lumps and bumps. It will be disappointing and a waste of money.

But then, when I turned 40 last September I told myself that THIS is the year. I’m going to just do it. I’m not getting any younger or skinnier or more coordinated.

So, for my birthday last year I purchased a photo session from Atomic Cheesecake Studios. I decided to do a 2 outfit shoot, so that I could try two separate looks and a bunch of different poses. I figured, at least one of them might turn out well, right?!

Stacy from Atomic Cheesecake started by putting my hair up in curlers, airbrushing foundation on and then slapping on a crap-ton of makeup.

Then, she helped me pick out my first outfit. I chose a classic pinup look and went with a corset, ruffled panties, stockings, garter belt and heels. She used superhuman strength to tie that corset so tight that I could barely breathe. Then, she styled my curls, added a flower to my hair and told me EXACTLY how to pose.

Since this is the internet, I’m not going to share most of the photos with this outfit because it was QUITE THE SEXY. Honestly, if I saw you all in person I’d show it to you on my phone. However, I’ve gotten some gross emails/comments/direct messages from stinky boys on here asking to see my goodies… so I’m not going to share them because EWWW.

However, I will share this close-up shot:

Yeah, that’s right. I’m a pinup.

And I don’t look weird OR dorky!

For my second outfit, I wanted something garage/mechanic themed. My husband was a mechanic for about 7 years and he still spends lots of time in his fancy garage rebuilding cars for fun (and changing my oil, thanks honey!). So, I thought it would be fun to do something that I could stick on a calendar for his garage.

Stacy had a “mechanic’s outfit” and added different thigh-highs, a garter and red heels. She also restyled my hair into a different look. She even added a few props I could use for my super sassy ‘oooh, I’m a sexy ass mechanic’ posing.

These are my two favorites of this look:

I’ve had these photos since the spring, but I haven’t shared them anywhere before today. I’m not sure why. I love them. I mean I really LOVE them. They make me feel sexy and confident and pretty and strong and awesome! I’m coming up on my 41st birthday in a couple days, so I figured it was the perfect time to show you all.

And I alllllllllmost shared the scandalous photos too, because they are HAWT. Maybe when I’m celebrating my 50th… {wink}

Have you done a pinup photo shoot? Is it one of those things on your bucket list that you think you might do someday?
