Movie Review: Life of the Party

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to go to a screening of the new Melissa McCarthy movie, Life of the Party. I made a girl’s night out of it and met up with my friend LeeAnne for cocktails and food before heading over to the movie theater.

You guys. Let me just say, it was the PERFECT girl’s night movie!

Here’s the premise: When her husband suddenly dumps her, longtime dedicated housewife Deanna (Melissa McCarthy) turns regret into re-set by going back to college…landing in the same class and school as her daughter, who’s not entirely sold on the idea.  Plunging headlong into the campus experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna embraces freedom, fun and frat boys on her own terms, finding her true self in a senior year no one ever expected.

Check out the trailer:

Melissa McCarthy was absolutely hilarious in the movie and some of the best scenes were of her and Maya Rudolph. The core group of girlfriends/wierdos was really great there was a whole ‘girl power’ message throughout the whole thing. There were lots of scenes that had me laughing out loud. In fact, there were a few parts of the movie where the audience was laughing SO HARD that we couldn’t even hear the follow up lines!

All in all, I thought it was great and I’m so happy I was able to see it!

Life of the Party opens in theaters on Friday, May 11, 2018 and is rated PG-13.

Disclosure: I was invited to attend the screening at no cost to me.
