Reviewing Causebox: The Winter 2021 Box Reveal

With the weather outside getting a bit more frightful, I very much enjoy the fact that I rarely have to leave the house. And when I’m home, I embrace ALL THE COZY… which means that this month’s Causebox is perfect for me!

About Causebox:
Every season, members receive a limited-edition curation of products from the leading socially conscious brands. Some of them are designed exclusively for Causebox. Each box is designed and filled with love. From the original artwork on the outside of the box, to the lovingly handmade products that fill it up, there is love in every detail. The cost is $49.95 per quarter if you subscribe annually, or $54.95 per quarter if you subscribe by the quarter. Let’s take a look at my Winter Causebox:

Choice 1: Thread & Supply Cozy Cloud Wrap, $115 retail

For my first subscriber choice, I was able to pick between the cozy cloud wrap and a brushed gold kettle. I don’t drink tea, so this was an easy choice for me. The Thread & Supply Cozy Cloud Wrap is made from recycled plastic water bottles and is somewhat similar to my Barefoot Dreams cardigans.

Causebox suggests that this wrap could be used for “socially distant dinner dates or cozy nights in” however, I very much do not agree. It looks like a comfy bathrobe, which makes it perfect for throwing on at home but I don’t think it looks like something I’d like to wear outside of the house.

Things I like: it is super fuzzy, I like the two-tone colors, and it has pockets. Things I don’t like: it is thinner than my Barefoot Dreams cardigans, so I don’t know if it will last very long. In fact, there is already a hole on the seam near my wrist. Also, speaking of wrists – the sleeve length is pretty short. They tend to creep up through the day and my wrists get cold.

All in all, I like that Causebox included a wearable item in the box, but I do not think this is worth the $115 retail value.

Choice 2: Boon Supply Reusable Zip Pouches, $22 retail

For my second subscriber choice, I picked between these zip pouches vs reusable silicone baking sheets. I tend to use my Pampered Chef clay pans for all my baking needs, and I’ve been eying zip pouches for awhile so these came at exactly the right time. They sent a set of 5 different sizes of zip pouches which is said to replace more than 1,500 single use zip bags.

I’m thinking that these will come in very handy when I go back into the office and pack my lunches. I’m already using one for a block of cheese in the fridge and one for Ritz crackers and feel quite fancy.

No-Choice Item: SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Face Toner, $30 retail

This item was sent in all the Winter Causebox boxes. The toner is made with extracts like witch hazel, truffle, and rosemary, and is vegan and cruelty free. I typically don’t really use a toner, so I’ll stick this one in the linen closet for when I’m feeling adventurous.

Choice 3: Zeal Living Marble Geo Coasters, $42 value

For my third subscriber choice, I picked between a body polish, gold hoop earrings, and these marble coasters. I still have a couple body polish jars in my stash and I rarely change my earrings, so I went with the marble coasters.

Zeal Living sustainably employs over 9,000 artisans in 17 African countries nd these coasters were made by a 60% female workforce. The coasters are very simple and classic and go with pretty much any home décor. These are great for putting around the house wherever we might set a cup, so I’m happy with my choice! Jack loves them too and already stole one for his room.

Choice 4: ettitude Travel Beauty Pillowcase, $25 value

For choice 4, I picked between a pair of slouchy socks and this pillowcase. I went with the pillowcase because this one is “bamboo-based and will feel more silky than silk itself.” I previously tried a silk pillowcase and didn’t love it, however, I’ve been using this bamboo pillowcase for a week or two and it’s fantastic. It is super soft, but not silky in the way that you feel like you’re slipping around on it. It also goes through the washer and dryer quite well, so it doesn’t seem to need any special care.

Choice 5: Soon Skincare Peony Foot Masks, $45 value

For choice 5, I was able to pick between a 2021 planner and these foot masks. I already have a planner for the year, so the foot masks were a no brainer. They contain ingredients like licorice and ginger root to smooth and spoil your feet, helping to restore and nourish your soles.

I tend to get a pedicure every 6 weeks or so, which keeps my toes looking pretty. But these foot masks are perfect for moisturizing my heels which tend to get dry when I wear my winter socks.

Overall Thoughts

I very much like this quarter’s Causebox! While I wish the cardigan was made a bit better – with longer sleeves and a bit of a thicker weave – I have been wearing it often around the house. I’m excited to give the foot masks a try too, since they totally meet my needs. The pillowcase, zip pouches and coasters are already in use and I love them all. The only ‘miss’ for me is the facial toner. Once again, I feel that the retail values are a bit inflated for what you get, but the box is worth much more than the quarterly fee of 49.95!
