Do you have Tips for Cruising with a Kid?

Before we had Jack, Travis and I went on quite a few cruises. Actually, if you want to be technical about it… Jack DID go on a cruise. In my belly, when I was 5 month’s pregnant.

Here I am doing the classic ‘I’m holding my baby bump so you don’t think I’m just a little fat’ pose:

A lot of cruises have really awesome children’s programs though, so we’ve been thinking that we want to hit the seas again soon. Then, when casually stalking cruise deals out of Baltimore I found a fantastic option for April and booked it. YAY!

We will be sailing on a Carnival ship right out of our local port, so we don’t have to worry about plane rides, bringing along car seats or any kind of transfers on the way there. We just have someone drop us off and we step right on the ship. Our stops will be Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Freeport, Bahamas and we will have a few at-sea days to get down and back.

So now I can use your help, do you have any super awesome cruising with kid’s tips? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

  1. I don’t have any cruise suggestions, except that we did a Disney Cruise when our youngest was five and it was the best vacation we have done as a family. Disney knows how to take care of families, we had a great time!

    1. I would LOVE to go on a Disney cruise… We had such an awesome time at Disney world last year. For this own I went with the easiest ones that sail out of Baltimore. 🙂

  2. I’ve never taken my kids on a cruise. I have a fear of my children around water so I think when they were really little I would have actually had a heart attack and died if I took them on a large boat in the ocean. Having said that, going to the Caribbean with a kid sounds amazing!!!! I grew up going to the Bahamas, etc, and I miss it so much! You can keep Hawaii! Give me the gorgeous calm waters of the Caribbean — perfect for children! Have fun!

    1. I’m okay with Jack around water because he’s not much of a daredevil and won’t go in by himself. I also imagine that if he fell off the boat I’d jump in after him… Now I’m super curious why you don’t like hawaii?
