{Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored by Kiddy USA; however they did provide me with a car seat to test and review. All thoughts, inappropriate blurting out of the word ‘penis’ and overuse of exclamation points are my own.}
Okay guys, I haven’t really written about kid product stuff in a really long time, but I just HAVE to share this with you all in case you’re in the market for a car seat. I was recently sent a Kiddy World Plus Car Seat to try out and I’m in LOVE with it.
As you all know, Jack is kind of a giant. He won’t be three until February, but was already getting kind of big for his car seat. It was your typical well-rated 5-point harness seat, but it really just wasn’t working for us anymore. Every time I strapped him in, Jack complained that his back hurt – which I think was because he is so freaking tall.
It was also really hard to get the clip secured between his legs, leading to him randomly yelling out that his penis hurt. Which is exactly what he did when my mom was going through the bank drive-thru. {Teehee}
When I saw the Kiddy World Plus, I was intrigued. While the design is quite common in Europe, I’d never seen a car seat without the 5-point harness before. On this model, there is a protection shield to be used for kids 22 – 40 pounds, which can then be removed and the seat works as a booster for up to 110 pounds.
Up to 110 pounds?!
There is no way Jack is growing out of this one anytime soon!
Now for the not-so-great side of things, Jack initially hated it. As you know, 2 year olds aren’t really big fans of change… well, for the first couple weeks Jack complained every time I put him in his new seat! It got so frustrating that I actually considered just switching him back to his old one and using this one as a booster once he weighed over 40 pounds.
We stuck with it though and I’m so happy we did. It is SO MUCH easier getting him in and out of the truck now. The seat fits securely and it seems that the protection shield is more comfortable than the other harness.
So now, we are both loving the Kiddy Car Seat which is why I wanted to share it with you! If you’re interested in checking out the Kiddy World Plus, you can find their shop here. If you have an infant, you should totally check out the Kiddy Evolution Pro, it’s an infant car seat that has a special lie-flat function, which I WISH I had when Jack was little!
Had you ever seen a car seat without the 5-point harness before? Do you have any stories about your kids saying something embarrassing while going through a drive-thru?
