If you’ve been following along with me on Instagram (find me here), you know that I’m doing a countdown to the end of the year with the goal to get back into a regular workout program. Well, yesterday I took care of my body and mental health in another way, a much needed visit to the Red Door spa.

For my November service as a Red Door Spa ambassador, I was lucky enough to get to experience the Red Door Signature Stress Melter Ritual. The Signature Stress Melter Ritual ($255) is an integration of soothing services, including an olive oil skin softening scrub, aroma therapeutic body wrap, and massage. The purpose is to melt stress and re-balance your spirit, which sounded like exactly what I needed.

Let’s just say that I was really in need of some stress melting when I visited the spa on Wednesday. When I met Mary, my massage therapist, I knew I had come to the right place. She was absolutely wonderful and her hands are basically magic.

The session started with an olive oil and salt scrub, where she scrubbed the mixture all over my body (I asked her to avoid my arm tattoo). Then, I jumped in the shower and washed it all off while she re-made the massage bed with a foil wrap. Once I came out, I laid on the wrap (with a towel over my bits and pieces) and she massaged a rose aromatherapy oil all over me. Then, she wrapped me up in the foil wrap like a human baked potato and left me to relax for about 20 minutes. I never knew how relaxing it was to be a baked potato.

When Mary returned, it was my favorite part of the whole shebang, a full body massage. To say that the Signature Stress Melter Ritual was the ultimate treat would be an understatement. I walked out of that spa with a whole different attitude. I felt like I was a new person!

I woke up this morning feeling hopeless. I spent the morning so full of sadness that it literally hurt. This is Mary, my massage therapist from The Red Door spa and being with her for the last couple hours has healed me. The Signature Stress Melter Ritual was just what I needed — the scrub, oil and massage could literally not been better or more relaxing — but what I think I really needed was the grace of Mary. This month as a Red Door Spa ambassador, I was asked to test out the Elizabeth Arden PRO Triple Protection Factor. Even better, I have a bottle to give away to one of you too!

Out of all the possible Red Door spa services, the one that I was most looking forward to happened to be scheduled for my birthday month. I am a huge fan of massages and if I were able to, I’d get one a week. Or one a day. Or just have a masseuse follow me around throughout my day and rub me on an ‘as needed’ basis… Is that a thing? As it is, my friends at the Red Door Spa scheduled me for one of their famous Signature Massages!

The Red Door Signature Massage ($140) lasts for 50 minutes, and incorporates essences of shea butter cream, facial acupressure and foot reflexology for head-to-toe balance and relaxation. I scheduled my massage for Sunday morning as a great way to get ready for the week.

For my massage, I was back at the Baltimore Red Door Spa location and had Tanja as my masseuse. Tanja is actually the same masseuse that I saw last year for my Brandied Pear and Marshmallow Body Melt Treatment, so I knew I was in good hands.

Before starting the massage, Tanja asked if there were any areas I wanted to focus on or avoid. Since I spend most days hunched over a computer, I asked her to spend some extra time on the knots that find their way to my neck and shoulders. The massage was fantastic and she worked from my back to my legs, before I flipped over and she finished with my feet, arms, neck and an amazing scalp massage. The scalp massage was my favorite part!

In the middle of the massage, and also after she was finished, Tanja placed one of their Heat Therapy Herbal Neck Pillows on me to enjoy. I loved it so much that I decided to buy one to take home. After a long day of traffic and computer work, I think it will be great to have the warm pillow on my neck while snuggling up on the couch.

I loved my Signature Massage and will have to make sure to take care of myself by booking massages more often!
