I don’t know if you noticed, but I stopped doing my monthly My Style posts. I liked them originally, but then I just started thinking that they were kind of boring and repetitive… so I haven’t done one since the summer. However, today I was thinking about Fall fashion and thought I’d throw together a post that includes my favorite fall outfits.
Before we get into Fall looks, if you want to check out any previous My Style posts you can find them here.
Ok, let’s do it!
Outfit 1: A crazy patterned dress + black
If you look at my Instagram feed, it’s pretty clear that I love a crazy pattern. I originally posted about this Anthropologie swing dress in September (Styling a Swing Dress for an Hourglass Shape) and have worn it to work a bunch of times. My current favorite way to style the dress is with a black cardigan and booties, but soon I’ll be adding on some fleece-lined leggings and possibly some knee-boots to keep warm.
Some shopping links:
The Dress: Grasslands Midi Dress from Anthropologie, on super sale but only a few sizes left. I also really like the Zeri Peasant Dress (also on sale).
The Cardigan: It is very similar to the Cotton Caryn cardigan at the J.Crew Factory and there are currently 11 colors on sale for $19.50!
The Booties: The ones I have are by Franco Sarto, but I bought them last year and they are sold out. The Tom’s Desert Wedge bootie is quite similar though. I’ve also been eying the Tom’s Lunata Lace Up bootie and hoping they will go on sale so I can pull the trigger to buy them.
Outfit 2: A crazy patterned skirt + more black
You may be sensing a bit of theme here, but as a lover of crazy patterns I typically try to tone down the rest of my outfit. By pairing this pretty fall floral skirt with all black, I can really let it shine and also look office appropriate. I’ll probably pack this skirt away in a few weeks and then bring it back out next fall.
Some shopping links:
The Skirt: I actually got this skirt from Old Navy for something ridiculous like $12 a couple months ago. It’s long gone now, but they have a couple dresses that have a really similar print: the Tie Waist Crepe Midi Dress and the Fit and Flare Cami dress.
The Blazer: I love the Amanda & Chelsea ¾ sleeve blazers they have at Nordstrom Rack. I have this one in black and also a version with teeny-tiny polka dots. It looks like black is currently sold out, but you can find their Signature blazer in grey here for $59.97. I highly recommend it!
The Booties: same as Outfit #1
Outfit 3: A Grown-up Look + a bit of Fun
I feel like this look of blouse + pants + cardigan could have gotten really boring, REALLY fast. However, I think that the polka-dots on the blouse and the subtle animal print on the flats saved it from snoozeville. Now that I’ve found a formula that works, I’ll be throwing this comfy combo on whenever I’m stumped for what to wear in the morning.
Some shopping links:
The Cardigan: same as Outfit #1, in a different color
The Blouse: The blouse I’m wearing was another Anthropologie steal from ages ago, however their Everafter Blouse is quite similar.
The Trousers: I’ll admit these pants are a total splurge, but I have a feeling that I will be wearing them for so long that it will be worth it. They are the Eileen Fisher Stretch Crepe pants and I originally got them in navy from Trunk Club. I loved them so much that I knew I needed them in black too. I got really lucky though and found a pair on eBay for around $50. If you are thinking of going that route, I’d try some on in the store first to figure out your best size. I probably should have sized down to a medium (I’m typically a 12).
The Shoes: I have such a weakness for a great pair of animal print shoes. These are from Sole Society a year or two ago, and I’m always finding new ways to pair them. I recently ordered the Mimi Cheetah Dot boots when they went on sale for Black Friday and I can’t wait until they arrive! If you want a similar look to the ones in this outfit, check out the Nitsa Slip On Flats in Leopard. ME-OWWW.
What do you think… did you miss my My Style posts? Should I bring them back on a monthly basis, or maybe just do them by season?

I love that dress in #1 and those shoes in #3! So cute. I think you should keep your style posts. There’s so many different body types out there and it’s awesome to show how you dress confidently 🙂
I really, really love the look of outfit #2. As someone who has lots of patterned skirts (especially from Old Navy), I often find myself at a loss on how to wear them and make it look sharp. Really, all the combos you put together are awesome, and I like how each one has a pop of something but it’s not in your face with patterns either.
OMG, I’ve been eyeing that same print on your Old Navy skirt from your second outfit since God-knows-when! I’m seriously kicking myself for not snagging the dress version sooner, especially every time I see it on other people. I think it screams fall!
Adorable! I really need to add more patterns into my life! My girls totally covered in patterns all the time, I’m just not as brave! Love outfit #3!
I love the way you model your choices. The black is a great anchor for whatever you add to it. Sometimes though we tend to get mired in Black. It’s nice that you add those punches of color. I like your style sense.
You look amazing in these! I’m obsessed with that cardigan!!
Love this post, thanks for the ideas!
Isn’t fall the best fashion season?! I really love that last look on you. It’s super flattering and cute :).
I love that skirt! So pretty!
