My Style: May Favorite Outfits

Yay it’s time for my monthly My Style post! May in Maryland this year was weird. Like, really weird. Typically around these parts, May is HOT and humid. But this year, we had something like 19 out of 23 straight days of rain. It was cold and super icky for almost the entire month!

I went through my May pictures and picked three of my favorite outfits to share with you.  If you see something you like, I’ve made it easy for you to steal my style with links for each item when still available, or similar styles if they’re sold out. If you want to check out previous My Style posts, you can find them here.

Look #1: Running Fabulous

My style May - 1

The Running Top
I don’t usually run in long sleeves, but when I got to Ocean City to pick up my race packet I realized that it was much colder than I had planned for! They don’t sell this one online, but some of my favorite running tops come from TJMaxx and Marshalls. This “I don’t Sweat, I Sparkle” tank top is pretty adorable and I also have a couple from Thug Life Shirts and this “Cardio & Coffee” one is totally on my list.

The Running Skirt
I just love a flippy running skirt, don’t you? My sisters – who actually run to be fast – totally make fun of me, but I don’t even care. Race skirts are ADORABLE! I got this one on clearance at Nordstrom Rack this year, but of course it’s long gone. I do totally love this Trina Turk printed running skirt, but they don’t have it in my size. This black pleated version at TJ Maxx is pretty great if you want something a little more subtle.

The Running Capris
There is nothing worse than wearing running clothes that move all over the place while you’re trying to trot on your way. These are the Soybu Allegro Capris in Dark Forest and I also own them in Pink Halftone. Believe me when I say that they are the BEST that I’ve ever run in and I want to order like 5 more pairs and throw everything else out!

Look #2: Office Polka Dots

My style May - 2

The Blazer
I have to wear blazers for work events and I always have a hard time finding one that will fit my figure. Typically there is some sort of weird shoulder pad thing happening, or it just looks like a giant box. I saw this pretty polka dotted version one at Nordstrom Rack one day and love how it is nipped in at the waist and has a little shirred cuff thing going on for a ¾ sleeve look. They still have it in limited sizes here or you can get it in solid black or grey here.

Look #3: It’s a Wrap… Dress

My style May - 3

The Dress
I had to do a marketing video at work that will be seen by an awful lot of people, so I basically tried my entire closet on before deciding to wear this fabulous Boden wrap dress. I wrote all about my Boden experience earlier this month (Trying Boden: Website vs Reality) and this exact dress is still on sale at this link.

The Shoes
Over the past couple months, I’ve read a bunch of posts from other bloggers about how incredible these Ugg sandals feel. They would go on and on and on about how comfortable they are, even with a higher wedge and finally I decided to try them for myself. Alicia sent me them in two colors when she sent my last Trunk Club order and OHMYGOSH are they comfortable and cute! I actually decided to buy both pairs to replace some that recently went to the great shoe closet in the sky. They are a little more expensive at $100, but I can truly say (in a non-sponsored way) that they are incredibly comfortable and I’ve gotten through a 12 hour workday and my feet still felt great. You can find them on the Nordstrom website here.

Do you have a favorite look? How do you fight back against days and days of yucky weather?

My Style: April Favorite Outfits

Spring has finally sprung here in Maryland, so I’ve been slowly packing away the warm layers and letting my super pale skin see the sun.

I went through my April pictures and picked three of my favorite outfits to share with you. If you see something you like, I’ve made it easy for you to steal my style with links for each item when still available, or similar styles if they’re sold out. If you want to check out previous My Style posts, you can find them here.

Just for fun, here are ALL my April outfits with some booty-shaking music thrown in:

Look #1: Maxi Dress = Maxi Comfort

April Favs 1

The Dress
This dress was actually the very first maxi dress I ever owned (now I’m totally a baller and own two…) and I got it back when Stitch Fix was rocking my socks off. I see maxi dresses in fun patterns pretty much everywhere now, at all sorts of price points. This one is a bit pricey, but with the super cool pattern I would totally add it to my wish list and wait for a sale to hit: The Anthropologie Medallion Maxi Dress, currently $168. I also love this Lush racerback version over at Nordstrom Rack, and it’s only $32!

The Sweater
You’ve seen it before and you’ll see it again and again and again. What can I say, the J.Crew Factory Clare cardigan is a favorite and currently on sale for $29.50.

The Belt
I haven’t really worn this dress very often because it just seems like SO much fabric and SO much print. However, I had the bright idea to throw on a belt with it this time and I really think that it makes a world of difference.

I love these stretchy belts because even though they cinch everything together, they still move with you so you don’t feel constricted throughout the day. I bought mine on super clearance at a Fossil outlet sale, but they have a similar belt at Target for $15.

I’ve been looking everywhere for more stretchy elastic belts, so if you see any please let me know!

Look #2: A Patterned Cardi + A Plain Dress

April Favs 2

The Cardigan
This floral printed cardigan is another item in my closet that just wasn’t getting a lot of wear. It is so easy to wear a printed dress or blouse with a solid cardigan, but for some reason a solid top and a printed cardi look a little odd to me. I decided to try pairing this one over a solid dress and belting it, and I really like how it all came together. My cardi is a brand literally called “cardigan” that I saw in person at a Nordstrom Rack a year or so ago. I found this really pretty yellow and gray version by Charter Club here and it’s currently on sale for $30. This Susina version for $25 is also really pretty.

The Dress
I bought this dress for a steal last year at TJ Maxx and the cost-per-wear is probably down to about $1 by now! In fact, I just included it in February’s My Style post. The moral of the story is, if you find a brightly colored dress that fits great for a great price, just buy it and you will totally figure out ways to wear it! This Cynthia Rowley version at TJ Maxx for $30 is similar to mine, but I haven’t seen it in person so it might be quite short. Here’s another pink dress, but this one has half-sleeves and is made out of a more structured fabric.

Look #3: The Age AND Office Appropriate Dress

April Favs 3

The Dress
I’ve been curious about Boden for ages and finally just ordered a few items off their website so I could blog all about it. This dress was one of those dresses and as soon as I pulled it out of the package, I knew it would get a ton of wear. I’m going to do a full review as soon as one last item arrives, but in the meantime if you are looking for a super versatile and comfortable work dress, look no further than the Boden Floral Jacquard dress.  Its on sale and there are still lots of sizes available!

Which look is your favorite? Do you like the little videos I put together with happy music?

My Style: March Favorite Outfits & My Boho Bag

You know that saying ‘in like a lion, out like a lamb’? Well, this March definitely lived up to the saying. Here in Maryland we had days with snow, ice, rain and then some random 70 degree days mixed in there.

I’ve pulled together a few of my favorite outfits from the month to share with you. If you see something you like, I’ve made it easy for you to steal my style with links for each item, as well as some similar styles at different price points. If you want to check out previous My Style posts, you can find them here.

Just for fun, here are ALL the outfits with some booty-shaking music thrown in :

Look #1: Belted Dress & Booties

My Style March - look 1

The Dress
I love changing the look of a dress by belting a sweater over top of it. I’ve worn this dress plenty of times, but it looks totally different when I style it this way. I’m wearing one of my favorite polka dotted dresses from Anthropologie from last year, but you can really replicate this look with any fit-and-flare dress. Here are a couple I love: here’s a pretty polka dot version from TJMaxx for just $40, I love this Eliza J floral fit-and-flare dress, and  this $40 striped version is totally fantastic!

The Sweater
If I’m actually going to button a cardigan, I like to go a size up so that I don’t have any pulling at the buttons. This one is from Loft, and they have them in a ton of different colors every year. You can find my exact sweater here, currently on sale for 40% off!

The Booties
I scored these booties a couple months ago (and they’ve been featured on a My Style post before) and I’m still loving them as a great in-between weather shoe. You know, when it’s too warm for knee-boots, but not warm enough for bare legs and sandals! Now is the bootie time, so if you have a pair get some wear out of them before it gets hot. Here is my exact pair, in brown with a limited number of sizes available at Nordstrom Rack here. The Tom’s desert wedges are quite similar.

Look #2: Comfy, Casual & Cool

My Style March - look 2

The Tee
I am so picky about my graphic tees and this is one of my favorites. It’s so super incredibly soft, is really simple in design, and has a nice flowy shape that works well with a front tuck. My exact tee is from True&Co and you can find it here. (If you want to buy anything at True&Co, feel free to use this link to get $15 off your order)

The Boyfriend Jeans
These are the Kut from the Kloth Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean that I received in my August Stitch Fix (you can see the full review here) They fit just baggy enough that they are really comfortable without looking sloppy. I also like that you can show a little ankle by rolling them up a little.  They look very similar to the “Cleaned up Katy Boyfriend Jeans” at Nordstrom Rack for just $29.97. If you like more of a rugged look, I also like this distressed gray pair.

The Shoes
It took me a few years to get on board with the whole Toms look, but now I’m a believer. I have a bunch of pairs – some bought directly from Toms, some from Nordstrom Rack and this pair from ThredUp – and they all get worn. I just received their new catalog and I’ve been eying a few pairs to add to my collection: this navy vintage tile pattern, this classic chambray pair and this zigzag design.

Look #3: St Paddy’s Fun

My Style March - look 3

The Dress
This was actually my most “liked” look of the month over on Instagram, so that’s pretty cool! I found it for just $29 at Marshalls a couple weeks ago and love the pretty eyelet detail and knee-length skirt. Since it was a Marshall’s score, it’s difficult to track down the exact same dress online. However, I found a few that are quite similar: a pretty blue wave dress, an almost identical plus sized version from London Times and this aqua lace version.

The Sweater
You’ve seen it before and you’ll see it again and again and again. What can I say, the J.Crew Factory Clare cardigan is a favorite. If you click over today, it’s on super sale for only $27!

The Booties
I looked everywhere for the ‘perfect’ pair of taupe colored booties and almost ended up buying the ones I received in my first Trunk Club box (you can see the review here). While they were pretty amazing, they weren’t exactly what I was looking for. I ended up ordering a pair from Sole Society to compare to the first pair and loved them. You can find the original pair that I tried here, the Dolce Vita ‘Kara’ Perforated Bootie from Nordstrom. And here is the pair that I ended up buying from Sole Society. They are currently very low on sizes for the ‘fennel’ color I bought, but have some availability in the other colors.

Bonus Love: My Boho Bag

Boho bag

You may recognize this bag from one of my recent Instagram posts, but you will be seeing a lot of it soon! I have been on the hunt for the perfect cross-body bag for a while and I finally found one to swoon over. It is the Small & Square Turquoise Boho Bag from Boho Bags and it is so beautifully made with the hand-tied beads and swingy fringe. I chose the turquoise version (there are also really pretty black, brown and red options) because I thought it would be perfect for Spring and Summer. I can’t wait to take it with my on my upcoming cruise! If you’d like to check out the entire collection, be sure to visit the Boho Bags website at http://bohobags.com/ and drool all over everything they have to offer. A great big THANK YOU to my friends at Boho Bag for sending this one my way
