Reviewing FabFitFun: The Fall 2018 Box Reveal

I just received my Fall FabFitFun box, which means it’s box reveal time!

Before we get into the goodies, here is a quick overview of FabFitFun:

Here’s my Fall 2018 box:

I love the design of this season’s box! I used a previous one for pretty storage in my closet and this one may be used to store something small like bathing suits in the off-season. So cute!

Let’s look inside:

Yeah, there’s A LOT going on in this month’s box!

BeautyBlender, retail $20
I’ve heard of the BeautyBlender sponges before, but since I don’t wear foundation I’ve never really looked very closely at them. According to FabFitFun, the BeautyBlender seamlessly blends cream, powder and liquid formulas for a flawless finish. While I appreciate the item, it is not really for me so I already put it on the trade board and traded it for something I’d actually use.

Vince Camuto Luck Tote in “Red Desert”, retail $128

As a seasonal member I was able to choose between a black and gray version of this tote, or the brown one I picked. This tote is made of vegan leather and has a slim look that could fit a laptop and a few essentials. It also has an interior pocket for smaller stuff. To be honest, I don’t really like this tote. I think the retail price is super inflated for a tote made of plastic. I would have much preferred an actual leather tote, but I know that’s not everyone’s preference. Since I don’t want it just sitting around my house, this one also got traded away for something I’ll use (see below, I traded it for another jar of the eye mask!).

GlamGlow BubbleSheet Oxygenating Deep Cleanse Mask (2 pack), retail $18
The masks activate into a 3D bubble experience with microbubbles that invigorate and detoxify the skin, revealing a glowing, deeply purified complexion. I’m super excited to try these masks. And if the bubbles are extreme, I’ll probably put it on my Instagram stories so we can all giggle about it together!

Simply Whimsical Tea Towels, retail $14.99
I actually just bought some more kitchen towels recently, but these will be great to add to my collection. I use tea towels basically every day, so this is a great addition to the box.

Skin&Co Roma Blue in Capri, retail $22
This multipurpose shower gel is inspired by the lemon farmers in Capri, Italy, and is scented with wild sage, lemon and alpine rose. I really like the scent of this shower gel and I just ran out of my current lingerie cleaner, so this one will be used when I hand-wash my bras. It’s a nice way to keep them clean without ruining them, and also puts a little bit of scent on you that lasts all day long!

Alfred French Press, retail $22

Another opportunity for seasonal members to personalize their box was with the choice between this coffee press or a ceramic teapot. I’m a coffee drinker, so I decided to try the coffee press. While I do think the coffee press is super cute, I don’t know if I’d ever bother to use it. This one will be going into my gift pile for Christmas.

Cylo Cobra Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds, retail $40
This was yet another seasonal member choice, where I was able to pick between an umbrella or these wireless earbuds. My current earbuds are acting up, so these came at the perfect time because I was about to buy a new pair!

Grown Alchemist Polishing Facial Exfoliate, retail $67
This exfoliate gently polishes dry skin to reveal a radiant and moisturized complexion. It is formulated with glucomannan from konjac to absorb oils and pink grapefruit to fight free radicals. I don’t know what any of that means, but I use an exfoliant on my face 3x a week and this one will be added into rotation when I need a new bottle for the shower.

Farmacy Dew it All Total Eye Cream, retail $38

How cute is this packaging?! I am a new convert to eye cream, so I’m excited to try this one out. If it is anywhere near as effective as it is cute, I’ll look younger in no time! I have high hopes for this cream, so I traded the tote for an extra jar of it for my stash.

Overall Thoughts
All in all, this was not my favorite box from FabFitFun. The tote was the item with the largest value, and it was a total miss for me. I also won’t be using the BeautyBlender or the French Press at all. I am very happy with the ear buds, bubble sheet masks, eye cream, tea towels and face exfoliator though. The total value of everything in my Fall FabFitFun box was $370, which was much less than the Summer box. However, I did find enough items that I enjoyed that make it worth the price for me.

Reviewing FabFitFun: The Summer 2018 Box Reveal

When I shared the spoilers for this quarter’s FabFitFun box, I knew it was looking to be a good one… but OHMYGOSH it is so good!

Before we get into the goodies, here is a quick overview of FabFitFun:

Here’s the Summer 2018 box:

Here’s what’s inside:

Yumi Kim Makeup Train Case, retail $58
Summer & Rose Beach Towel, retail $55
I love a good travel makeup case! I have a work conference coming up at the end of the month, a few trips down to Ocean City this summer, and a fantastic wedding cruise for my sister’s wedding in December. This train case is perfect – it has a separate upper compartment for makeup brushes that will also be great for my toothbrush and mini toothpaste. The bottom compartment is nice and roomy for everything else. This came in two color options and I picked the navy blue with the patterned inside. SO CUTE!

I paid an extra $10 to add the second option of the Summer & Rose towel to my box and I’m really glad that I did. This oversized microfiber towel is super soft and really nice and thin, so it can easily be rolled up and shoved in a beach bag. We used it over the weekend at a pool party and I like it so much that I wish I had two more so we could ALL use one!

Tarte tarteist PRO to go palette and Sex Kitten Liquid liner, retail $43
I’m pretty boring with my makeup and don’t really mix it up much. However, this palette has really pretty eyeshadow colors so I’m going to keep it to play with it. I’ve already started adding the light gold to my normal eye shadow look. I’m also planning to try out the liquid liner to see if I can finally figure out that cat eye thing.

ELEMIS Papaya Enzyme Peel, retail $45
I love a good face product, so I’m excited to try out this enzyme peel. You apply it for 10 minutes and the non-abrasive fruit enzymes work to leave skin soft, revitalized and radiant. Sounds good to me!

Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator, retail $29
I’ve used this exfoliating cleanser before and I really like it. I’m glad to have a refill available for when mine runs out!

ERTH TU Y YO ring, retail $55
Pier 1 Imports Marble Ring Dish, retail $14.99
This 14k gold-plated ring features two naturally cultured freshwater pearls set in a classic and modern design. I picked this one over a body scrub and aromatherapy muscle gel, but now that I’ve received it, I don’t really like it on me. Eh.

I love a good jewelry storage dish and this one is really pretty with the marble finish and gold trim. I put this on my nightstand to hold some tums (I often wake up in the middle of the night and need one), but it’s only a matter of time before Jack steals it to show off his latest Lego minifigure creation…

FOREO LUNA fofo, retail $89
The Foreo Luna fofo was actually launched in this FabFitFun box, so we are the first people to get to try it out! It uses Bluetooth technology and skin sensors to create a personalized profile for the fofo. Basically, you wet your face and add cleanser, then run the fofo over your face. It vibrates and the silicone points clean your face. It has an app that goes with it that was having some buggy problems, so I’m waiting a week or so before I start trying to use it with the app!

COOLA Face Sport SPF 50 White Tea Moisturizer, retail $32
This SPF doubles as a face moisturizer, so it’s perfect for summertime use. It is also made with 70% organic ingredients, so that’s pretty great.

Overall Thoughts
This may be my favorite box out of all the FabFitFun boxes… but I’ve probably said that before. I love the variety of items in the box and I’m most excited about the microfiber towel, train case, and fofo. The total value of everything in my Summer FabFitFun box is $421. I did pay the extra $10 to get the train case AND the towel, but it was totally worth the tenner!

Reviewing FabFitFun: The Spring 2018 Box Reveal

It’s FabFitFun unboxing time! The FabFitFun quarterly box is the only subscription I still keep and for good reason… it’s always pretty fabulous!

Before we get into the goodies, here is a quick overview of FabFitFun:

The Spring box is really great, so I couldn’t wait to share it with you:

Here’s what’s inside:

Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion, retail $40
This ultra-light, oil-free moisturizer is supposed to minimize the appearance of pores, refine texture and sooth redness and irritation. My current face moisturizer has a SPF in it, so I may use this one for evening since it has no sun protection. I always see Murad products at Nordstrom Rack, so I’m happy to try the brand out in this quarter’s FabFitFun box.

Maya Brenner Designs LOVE Bracelet, retail $65

For the jewelry choice item, annual subscribers were able to choose between tassel earrings and this bracelet (you can see the earrings over in my friend Jenna’s post at Outrageously Wonderful). I picked this bracelet in rose gold and really like the simple design. Unfortunately, my bracelet was broken when I unwrapped it. However, I did a quick chat with their online customer service and a new one will be on its way to my house ASAP.

KORRES Guava Body Butter, retail $24
This was another choice item – for beauty choice, we were able to pick between this body butter or a lip mask. I’m a lotion lover, so I went for the body butter. It is enriched with shea butter and quince extract to soften, moisturize and rejuvenate the skin while sunflower, almond and avocado oils work to nourish and improve elasticity and smoothness. It has a very light scent and soaks in pretty quickly. I used it yesterday afternoon after my shower and my skin is still super soft, so this one is a winner.

Dermelect Cosmeccuticals Makeover Concealing Ridge Filler, retail $18

I love how FabFitFun sends me items I didn’t even know I needed. This ridge filler keeps your nails healthy, smooth and glossy. It conceals nail imperfections with a natural pink hue while treating them with protein, vitamins and moisture. I basically never bother to paint my fingernails and I admit that my hands look pretty terrible on a daily basis. I applied two coats of this and it dried really quick. I painted this on my nails on Friday and after 4 days it still looks perfect. It actually makes my nails look like pretty girl nails! LOVE this!

ISH Lip Statement Palette, retail $42

I am not really a lipstick person, instead I’m addicted to my chapstick year round. This palette has 11 intensely pigmented shades and one balm. It is enriched with rose extract, shea butter, jojoba oil, olive oil, and aloe vera and you can mix and match for endless color combinations. While I’m tempted to throw this into my ‘trade’ pile, I actually think this will be kind of fun to experiment with. So, I’m going to keep this and try the different colors mixed with a little chapstick to mute them down for me.

Rachel Pally Reversible Clutch in Zahara, retail $60

I LOVE this clutch. I literally do not own ANY clutches in my life and so this one is pretty awesome to add to my nonexistent clutch collection. There were three color choices, but I picked this pretty orange version because it’s SO ME. It’s also reversible, so if I want more flowers I can just pop it the other way.

I will totally use this all summer long and it will be great for the beach to keep my wallet and phone in, so they don’t disappear into the bottom of my beach bag. I love this so much, I may trade for a second one in a different color!

Physique 57 Massage Roller, retail $20

YES. Thank YOU FabFitFun, this is exactly what I need but didn’t think to buy one for myself. I’m about to start my running season again when the weather warms up and this will be perfect for massaging out those knots that form in my legs and back.

Free People x Understated Leather Starry Eyed Travel Eye Mask, retail $40

This vegan leather eye mask features a removable, non-toxic cooling insert to keep you feeling and looking refreshed. Out of all the items, this is the only one that is not a real winner for me. I like the idea that it’s cooling, but it’s so incredibly bulky that I can’t imagine sleeping comfortably with this on my face! This one might hit the trade pile.

ANDERSON LILLEY Sunset Collection Candle in Manhattan Beach, retail $45
This candle is made with a hand poured coconut wax blend, and a cotton, lead-free wick. It is housed in a pretty copper colored vessel that you can reuse when you’re done with the candle. Unfortunately, when I unwrapped my candle the copper metal holder was all scratched and banged up. Luckily, I did this before I contacted customer service about the bracelet… because I just took a couple photos and added it to my chat. They will be sending me a new one soon!

Freebie Fun: $50 Hello Fresh Gift Card and Dove Exfoliating Body Polish
Whenever FabFitFun throws in sponsored items, they aren’t counted towards the value of the box. I really love Hello Fresh (we’ve been using them for years and I’ve blogged about them here and here),so I really wish this gift card was for existing customers.

As for the Dove Exfoliating Body Polish, I tried it in my shower over the weekend and I was blown away by how much I like it! I received the Crushed Macadamia nut and Rice Milk version and it smells so good. My upper arms and legs have been dry lately, so I was really excited that one use of this and I’m as smooth as a baby’s bottom. It’s not too scratchy and not too oily… it’s just right. The sample is pretty generous, so I’ll get a few uses out of it. I immediately added the product to my Target list so I can pick up a full sized tub of it! The Target price is $5.89, so it’s kind of a steal! (Find it here)

Overall Thoughts
This box was really fantastic, even if I did have a few issues that need to be fixed by FabFitFun’s customer service department. I’m most excited about the clutch, nail ridge filler, massage roller and LOVE bracelet. I am also loving the Dove freebie that they included! The only thing that I don’t really like is that bulky eye mask, even if it is pretty darn cute. The total value of everything in my Spring FabFitFun box is $354!
